Danish duo Junior Senior brought their latest batch of indie
Eurodance tunes to East Iris in Nashville,where they mixed with
engineer David Leonard. Leonard mixed to ProTools on the studio's
SSL4000E Series console,which comespaired with a 16-channel
sidecar. Shuttling rough; mixes back and forth between Denmark
made the process some what challenging, Leonard says, but fun

for his forthcoming solo album at East Iris Recordings Studio A. Rick Beato produced,

"Country superstar Tanya Tucker stopped by the B room
at Nashville's East Iris Studios to record a duet with alt-country
artist Ty Herndon for a remake of Elton John's "Don't Go Breaking My
Heart." The track was handed out at the recent Country Music Awards
as a promotion effort for Herndon's new album. Eric Fraley
engineered the session with Mike Paragone assisting. Fraley recorded
the duo to the studios beefed-up Pro Tools system, which sports

recording village of Berry Hill, producer Darrell Brown worked with
engineer David Leonard on a project called "Kid's Country" for
Capitol Nashville. Pictured are East Iris Studio Manager Mike

East Iris news, the facility recently acquired an SSL-automated API

"Meanwhile, back in Music City Gary Belz's studio East
Iris continues to rock along under the guidence of new Studio
Manager Mike Paragone. They have recently acquired a new 32-in,
64-out fully loaded Pro Tools HD system to complement Studio A's
80-input SSL 9000 J Series console and Studio B's SSL 40-input E
Series desk. 'We have been encouraged by the positive reception our
newly redesigned Studio B has recieved,' Belz comments. 'Because of
that and because of the upswing in business among our clients for
hard-disk recording, we have decieded to make the investment in
state-of-the-art Pro Tools HD technolgy to accompany our enhanced
Mix Plus system.' Recent projects at East Iris include: Rounder's
Julianna Hatfield mixing with producer/engineer David Leonard and
assistant engineer Sang Park; Universal South's Matthew West mixing
with Leonard engineering, Kenny Greenberg producing and Park
assisting; and RCA's Josh Bennett in with producer Ken Coomer and

and consoles, and often take projects to such facilities. For
engineer David Thoener, that meant bringing Matchbox Twenty to
Nashville's East Iris Studios. 'It's a Tom Hidley-designed room,'
explains studio manager Mike Paragone, 'and has a Solid State Logic
9000 J Series console. That's what [Thoener] was looking for. David
Leonard has also done so much here-Barenaked Ladies "Stunt" was his

East Iris Studio has been nominated for a 2001 Technical Excellence
and Creativity Award in the category of Outstanding Creative
Achievement, Record Production / Album (Recording Studio). The
nomination is due to East Iris's part in the recording of the
Matchbox 20 album "Mad Season".
When East Iris studios renovated in 1997 we had a
full-featured article in Audio Media magazine, along with the
picture of our Studio A control room on the front cover.
